When it comes to ignition wires is there a difference between 7 or 8 mm wire. This is on a stock motor.
When you replace ignition wires to you put that gell on the inside of the boot.

Are you talking about Dielectric grease so it can't short out from water or moisture.
I never did apply to spark plug boots but it wouldn't hurt anything and would make removing the boot easier next time.

On a stock motor 7mm are fine. You seem to have been making a statement more then a question about the dielectric grease.

Maybe the grease will help me to be able to use the wires again when I replace the plugs seems that when I changed the plugs the boots would stretch out cuasing a arc. Would the grease help alleviate that problem? I like to change my plugs every other year that's why I buy just the plain champion plugs. Thanks

What Year, make & model of engine? I would stick with what OEM size was.
Yes die electric grease on the inside of the boot or even just coat the body of the plugs before install works too to help things come apart again without destroying the plug wire.

yes use the grease in the contact points

By contact points do you mean inside the boot on the plug wire or points as in ignition points inside the distributor? Yes on the inside of the boot, NO on the points in the distributor.

97 dodge dakota 5.2

If it was me I'd get a good quality set of 7mm wires and use dielectric grease inside the boots on the plug wires. Don't forget to put grease on the inside of the boots where they go in the distributor cap too! I'd put a little dab of never seize on the threads of the spark plugs before I put them in, that will help you get them out on the next plug change.

I can't remember, does it have a cap and rotor? If so a little dab of dielectric grease on the center contact point in the cap will cut down on static and help with a positive contact.
