She is 100% right those foods are horrible. If you go by if it comes in a bag or box to avoid that food it makes a difference. It is hard to do that in today’s day of convenience. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients that’s another bad sign. I have fallen off the wagon hard on diet in the last few weeks and my joints are ready to bitch slap me

Considering that it is now common practice to spray Round up on most grains prior to harvesting, Ya, doesn't surprise me.
Some guy, suffering from cancer was recently awarded something like $260 million because his sickness was linked to continued use of Round up. This lawsuit thing against Monsanto is just getting started.

If you think that's nuts. Research low fat "healthy" foods and the amount of sugar the add to it to get it to taste good. Btw your body doesnt need any refined sugar if your eating the right foods.

One step closer to the end.
I agree with your wife.

Slowly I too am weaning myself completely from processed foods, soda, sugar, etc.

About 8 years ago, my health was going down hill in a big way. Continuous migrane headaches, lack of sleep, looked and felt like s***.
I ended up having to quit working for about a year as it was next to impossible to work with a pounding headache and you felt like crawling into a black hole with no noise at all.

Since then I have done well with cutting back on the "bad" foods. Been going to the gym for at least an hour each day. And I feel a 100 times better. Still look like s***. :)

It is hard when you are used to getting a couple of donuts every time you go to the grocery store and then when you are in line, that bag of M-M's sure is tempting.

A gradual process, but I am glad I made the change. Thinking if I hadn't something would have burst . . .

Am I perfect with my diet. No. But I sure can tell the difference in the way I feel. I look at others my age and feel I am in a lot better place than the majority of them.

My wife and i started keto about 4 months ago. Very few processed foods on keto. I eat some pork rinds and some atkins ‘granola’ bars. Cut out most carbs. I am down almost 20 lbs and have never felt better.

I grew up on a farm and back then (70's-80's) it was black fields for weed control. Now its no till and all chemicals for weed control. The bare fields were way worse for erosion but all the chemicals put on fields now are and going to increase health damage.

80% of what we consume comes from hunting, fishing, or someone's garden. We buy the staples of bread, milk, butter, and a the odds and ends. Every once in a while we have a cardboard pizza or hotdogs, but for the most part our family is MIGHTILY blessed with my wife, who is a FANTASTIC cook and makes almost everything from scratch. I can't hardly stomach a fast food burger anymore. Puts my insides almost on my outsides. Eating as much non-processed food has been a family goal for quite a few years now and I'm hoping to keep it that way.

Just compare the cost of canning with your medical deductible. It'll make you feel better. (Grin)

Me and the wife have switched to a lot of keto eating, low carb. Its not fun but I feel a lot better, no more carb coma after eating, etc. Bad part is the foods you can eat arent nearly as good as high carb foods. We have cheat days occasionally tho to satisfy cravings.

Davey Crocket I agree with your wife. My knees were getting so bad I could hardly make it up the basement steps. In the past I have had to stop my cholesterol meds because my calf muscles hurt so much. About a year ago I was rolling my winter tires across the yard to switch them out with the summer tires on my 3/4 ton. I pulled a hamstring in my right leg. It has been a year and not getting better. I will have rotator cuff surgery in December, then an MRI to check for a torn meniscus in the right knee. I started wondering about my meds again. So I stopped everything except my heart med and my Celebrix (I was on my fourth different cholesterol medicine trying to find one that didn't give me side affects). Two days and I was feeling better. I know that's different than foods, but I am going to start changing that too.
Doctors always think they know best. For years there was a big scare about eating eggs. The lowest my cholesterol has been for ten years was the six months I ate eggs nearly every morning instead of processed cereal. Now I need to knock off some other things. I often wonder about the preservatives in food causing more cholesterol to stay in the system.

For the last 15 years we have tried to eat as healthy as possible and not many processed foods as per health specialists recommendations but she was to the point of organic shopping and paying double the price with no actual proof that it was actually organic. I questioned that but maybe she was right. Our kids buy almost everything organic but dang that must get expensive. What we will miss this year since I didn't plant a big garden is home grown vegetables but I am working on an area to try an indoor micro garden again this winter. I ate two beets last night , One with supper and one for dessert and didn't p red so I know my beet red pee threshold is higher than than 2 .

Our cheat day is if we are on the road and in a hurry we stop and have a fast food meal , Dang those french fries are good . Haven't bought or drank a pop in about 20 years other than a mcdonalds cheat day then it's most likely a super sized .

My wife has been on KETO for about 4 months. She has lost over 50lbs and feels better overall. She feels horrible during/after a cheat day in which she has too many carbs or processed food. I'd like to do it, if not for weight loss, then the hopes my butt wouldn't be dragging all day every day.

Problem with exclusionary diets is they are not maintainable. So you will yo-yo back. Weight is an indicator but I know lots of skinny people who are not healthy at all.

Joints have pain and all the rest of the stuff.
Growing up big garden, butcher our own and main stuff from grocery store was flour and sugar. Do not eat wild food. A lot of veg, milk, potatoes, butter, beef and some pork. In fact that is about all I eat. Ate a fish stick once in school.

Now I eat what I damn well want to eat, still have a garden but meat comes from the locker plant for the most part.
Never been on a diet and today I will eat what I damn well want to eat which includes a bunch of chocolate and soda. Have not ate a breakfast in years and miss a lot of dinners. Steaks are great and that is why God made beef.

Seen doc with test and for the millions time my bad cholesterol is border line and for the first time in my life I might take some medication. Which will be to bring that number down. I give that a 50/50 chance. 5'10" @225#. Been that height for some time now.
At 72 and plan to make it to 102 living at home.

It's all in the head.
But who knows at least i made it to 72. Only thing is, my mind is starting to drift a little. comes from living with the same women for close to 50 years, 5 kids and 9 grandkids. Maybe one two many old mills has some effect. db

Will add my wife is 68 has never taken any medication but her fingers are getting bent. She does have a different diet than me. Bought her some elk horn stuff but not the best at taking. Ask her to go to doc but that does not seem to happen. db
