Was thinking about heading that way tomorrow morning. Hope to find a field that isn't posted. Wish me luck.

Huntable numbers of hookers in the Yates area. I'm sure I could get a few, but just can't seem to find the time or desire. Lots of snows showed up last Sunday also.

Huntable number ...lol that's what were calling it theses days! pretty much nowhere else but along the Missouri river in North Dakota would that be called huntable numbers.. generally would be more likely to be referred to as holy shit! It's crazy with oahe open I'm coming across big flocks in the damnedest places. This morning watched wave after wave going well past solon which was definitely a first that far out that far south. Big flocks are lined up along the lake/river/lake with hardly anyone hunting any of the birds down south... actually too be honest I have yet to see a goose Hunter hunting any of the flocks but I'm sure there's somebody out there somewhere. Birds do seem to be jumping fields pretty fast so that could make it a little tricky.

We got into them last Sunday. Were set up for ducks only had 6 Honker decoys in the field. I think we would have done better if we didn't have the Mojo's out

Ya and on the river in some different places than usual. Kind of a conundrum deer season starting and waterfowl hunting so good. Wonder if any one has shot a deer out of their laybout blind . Haha

There's a couple thousand that religiously sit right by the causeway in Fort Yates. They only fly about a mile to feed twice a day. You could pass shoot or decoy, but then IDK where they would feed if you chase them off the field. There are a couple more places they may go but who knows.

Lots of memories at the big stone power plant. Shot my first goose there and spent lots of cold days in the ditch over there.

One happy pupper. Scratched out 12 today with three guys in the Missouri River zone. The flag was more important than the call today. Not a bad way to call the season. See you next year.

We hunted them last weekend down by Garrison. Ended up with 8, but we are complete novices and didn't have any calls or movement. Weather seemed like it was too nice. They came off the lake a little before 9am.

Anybody been out around the lake lately? What time are they coming off the lake?

Probably, but they are not coming off right at first light. Especially if you are hunting fields, 4-5+ miles from the lake. With our minimal spread, 2 dozen, we will probably get to the field right around first light instead of setting up in the dark. Warm bed for a couple extra hours beats a cold blind if the birds aren't going to move until 9am.
