    Boycott Patagonia?

It was just brought to my attention that Patagonia has a big opening page that says "The President Stole Your Land" I, for one, will not be supporting anyone or any company that is using news or their business as a platform to try and turn people against this country or the decisions the President, Cabinet or House has made to try and better the US. I also will not knowing support any business or person that is against our military. Sick of all this crap with the media falsely portraying intentions by our President. Does he scare me/ Yes! Is he trying to make the country better? Also, yes!

Let this sink in for a minute.....Hundreds and hundreds of small boats pulled by countless pickups and SUVs from across the South are headed for Houston. ...Almost all of them driven by men. They're using their own property, sacrificing their own time, spending their own money, and risking their own lives for one reason: to help total strangers in desperate need.

Most of them are by themselves. Most are dressed like the redneck duck hunters and bass fisherman they are. Many are veterans. Most are wearing well-used gimme-hats, t-shirts, and jeans; and there's a preponderance of camo. Most are probably gun owners, and most probably voted for Trump.
These are the people the Left loves to hate, the ones Maddow mocks. The ones Maher and Olbermann just *know* they're so much better than.
These are The Quiet Ones. They don't wear masks and tear down statues. They don't, as a rule, march and demonstrate. And most have probably never been in a Whole Foods.
But they'll spend the next several days wading in cold, dirty water; dodging gators and water moccasins and fire ants; eating whatever meager rations are available; and sleeping wherever they can in dirty, damp clothes. Their reward is the tears and the hugs and the smiles from the terrified people they help. They'll deliver one boatload, and then go back for more.
When disaster strikes, it's what men do. Real men. Heroic men. American men. And then they'll knock back a few shots, or a few beers with like-minded men they've never met before, and talk about fish, or ten-point bucks, or the benefits of hollow-point ammo, or their F-150.
And the next time they hear someone talk about "the patriarchy", or "male privilege", they'll snort, turn off the TV and go to bed.
In the meantime, they'll likely be up again before dawn. To do it again. Until the helpless are rescued. And the work's done.
They're unlikely to be reimbursed. There won't be medals. They won't care. They're heroes. And it's what they do.

No! not that anything but that! I'm sure your decisions will completely bankrupt Patagonia.

How many companies did (do) you support that did the same thing when Obama was president?

Patagonia also gave a shit ton of money to the wolf reintroduction and support the likes of the sierra club and others who would rather not have any hunting or access to areas they deem as "wild". The monument designation of bears ears does nothing for hunters as alot of them get shut down and there is no need for it not to have the blm and forest service managing it like they have the last 100 years. Rei also sucks balls which is to bad they have alot of good gear

I try not to put too much emphasis on what a company or corporation does. It does pain me though, to think that my purchase gives more traction to a company, that knocks down the president. I own nothing from Patagonia.

For the record, I was sad that Obama was elected, and I was dumbfounded when he was elected again. But I never once protested, never once quit my job or marched, or burned a flag. Never flew the flag upside down or so much other BS.

I wish the people who are now figuratively chanting "Death to Trump" would do the same. I didn't like Obama, but just went on with my life. If they'd just shut up and accept it, like so many did twice in the last 9 years, it sure would be nice..

The only people I know that wear Patagonia are the ones who wear it because it is the cool brand to wear, and not because they are using the gear for function. I'll leave the Patagonia to the granola eating city slickers........

If you want to support companies that have the attitude that Patagonia is currently displaying on their website then have at it. I for one don't. Kinda like the NFL and their kneeling bullshit. If enough people know about what is going on then maybe we can get these companies to change their attitude. It sure seems like the NFL is having fun with their lost revenue.

I can clearly see that you sir or madam, are a kneeler! Good luck.

Me as well. My 14 year old step-daughter has a hat and wants a Patagonia hoodie for x-mas. I don't think it is for function.

I'm not really the "boycott type". I guess I feel a bit to much like a whiny liberal if i boycott everything and everyone that doesn't agree exactly 100% with my train of thought. I may buy less of a companies products i don't agree with, but its basically impossible to agree with everything any company does. Its like finding a politician you agree with 100%.

You can vote your political leanings mostly 1x/yr, some years you get a few more chances with special elections, primaries and such but mostly it's 1x annually that you get a chance to really influence the political direction of your city, county, state, nation.

However, you can vote with your wallet every day. If a company decides to be visibly/publicly politically engaged, then I think it's appropriate to use that company's political leanings as a measurement of whether you wish to buy or not buy their products.

It's really exactly the same as the Dixie Chicks running down President Bush on stage. No one said they couldn't say that. They didn't get a citation for breaking the law, nor were they imprisoned or fined. The people who bought their music and probably more important, the people who bought advertising on the radio stations that played their music decided to vote with their wallet. The general public decided to listen to other artists and the advertisers decided to not support a radio station that aired them. Radio stations followed the $$ of their advertisers and the opinions of their listenership. Listenership being the chief means by which their able to drive revenues and rate schedules.

I’ll play devils advocate here. Since conservation seems to come up a lot lately, Patagonia is one of the company’s that actually does give back to the environment from which they make a profit. Sometimes you have to make strange bedfellows to get what you want. If people constantly dig in and only support those that think exactly as you do, all you end up with is a billion splintered groups and nothing gets accomplished. You probably have a beef or two with at least some of the republican platform. You probably still vote for them. Food for thought.
