Because it had just got caught in a guys coyote trap, so they used it as an opportunity to collar it and study it. Low and behold rather than heading into the badlands it ended up in Bismarck, i think its pretty cool to see what these cats do.

This is reminiscent of the 70-some year old guy in Africa that killed a leopard after it attacked him. He did that cat in by shoving his arm down the cat's throat and ripping out its tongue, after which it bled to death.
