Whenever I see a lonely, lost shoe laying along the highway I often wonder what kind of fresh hell took place in that person’s life to cause such disarray and upheaval that it causes them to ditch a shoe. Short of losing a leg and not needing the shoe anymore, it remains an unanswered question for years.
