Does are starting to drop the young of the year. My resident farm yard doe only has a single this year and it is curled up next to the garden about 50 ft from the house. Guess I am baby sitting for a while. Love the country living.

Wife and I were out on the 'toon the other night and saw 2 pair of Canada geese and their new broods. One pair had 6 and the other pair had 12. We are very close in a narrow pass into a cove so this is the best she could get.

Yep, been seeing more does out and about in the afternoon lately, most likely out on their milk runs to the young'uns.

My resident geese hatched out about 3 weeks ago. I'm thinking the fox has claimed a meal or two though, we're down a few goslings.

Almost ran over a pheasant nest a couple of days ago. Had more than 20 eggs in it. Can't believe how many pheasant hens I've been seeing this year, especially after the debacle we had 2 years ago. If there is a decent hatch things could look much better this fall. Saw lots of antelope does in singles and doubles yesterday. Guessing they are getting close to having their fawns in the next few days.

Seemed every pond between Underwood and Minot had a batch of goslings on it this weekend.

Wiped out a pheasant nest while mowing the lawn on Saturday, Made a wide swing next to the shelter belt in some dead grass and the next pass saw the broken egges, never did see the hen. Its early enough for her to nest again.

Neighbor came over at noon and told us a cow elk had her calf on their property around 10 am this morning about 40 feet from their back deck. Calf is laying in their thick trees in the back yard now.

Picture sucks but this is a mama robin feeding two baby black birds in the neighbors yard.
