There is a Unit 30 Tom out there somewhere that’s in for a world of trouble and I see smoked turkey legs and wings in my future.

Unsuccessful again, unit 02. Not sure why I even bother applying for anything, I couldn't get drawn for a cold.

Got turned down for Unit 17 in the badlands, but got my 2nd choice Unit 19, Grant County. Might try with a bow again this year. Shotgun is too easy.

02 is a huge unit and they only gave out 200 tags this spring which is ridiculous. We have 75plus on our property all the time and always let people come shoot turkeys , like the deer , gf really has no idea how many turkeys there is around .

We have more deer in my area now than 10-15 years ago and it’s not close but no one other than land owners can get a tag gf has 0 clue

This is what the start of turkey season has been in the Black Hills. Cold and 16" of new snow. Better than the 30" we got before opener last year. Birds are gobbling but sticking pretty tight to the hens. Got one decent morning of weather then the crap hit. Going to let it all settle a bit and get nice before I get too excited.

Anyone else finding gobblers?

Went out Saturday of opener and was finished at about 820am. Real quite on the roost didn’t hear any gobbles but got lucky bumped around and ran into a strutting group of Toms
