So 20 yrs ago while turkey hunting in the Missouri river bottoms near Chamberlain, SD I found a skull of a canine. I kept it and passed it off as a coyote. Well after getting into yote hunting yrs ago I realized there is no way this is a coyote. Comparing it to my yote skulls it looks just the same but at least twice the size. Narrow, long snout etc. VERY large canines. Now this area I was hunting is very remote. Type of place where you get hurt or sick they may find your bones yrs later. There had been supposed reportings of mountain lions, moose, wolves etc. Most likely this is a dog that lost its way but yet it does make me wonder due to coyote likeness. So, how would I ever know for sure what it is? Where could I take it? And, if a dog can they tell breed?
Lastly..any other similar findings while in the bush?

Post a pic with blue can for refrence!

Ive taken a few bones to the state archeologist in Bismarck. Hes sometimes hard to track down but usually give a good idea what you have. Could probably track one down in SD, possibly talk to a University.
