Anyone put some sort of rubberized coating on their net after it wears out. I have a Beckman net that could use a recoat. I am thinking about doing it myself. Any tips?

I sprayed flex seal on mine this year and a hot day on the floor of the boat it got sticky and started melting to the floor. Last time I'll do it...

If you spray flex seal on net, don't you just have a bucket?

I picked up a new net this year, being I left the old one at the fish cleaning station at McKenzie bay, and didn't notice until we needed to net a fish over at Pick City. The new one I bought at the bait shop was a nice, long handled son of a gun and ran like $80.00, not sure if that is spendy, but it sure beat effn around with flex seal..

I woulda thunk that miracle stuff would have turned your net into a soft bucket.

Replacement webbings aren't that expensive. I've got a net that I've replaced twice now, but I've had that handle since 2002(?).

I bought a new net for the Toon this year so I had at least one piece of gear that didn't have to get transferred between the boat and Toon. http://www.2daydeliver.com/product_..._term=4580359283190915&utm_content=2dd 2-mill

Love the new net but that old Fabrill in the boat that's on it's 3rd webbing is still trucking right along. It's also had to have a few drops of locktite on the screws. And putting foam in the handle has kept it from going to the bottom of the lake.

Oh, and on to the original topic with a serious reply. If I were to try and re-coat a net, I might use a can of rubberized undercoating or truck bed coating. You can pick it up at your local Menards or autoparts store for about $5. That should dry out better than flex seal and still remain fairly flexible on a nylon medium.

Now they are owned by PLine Fishing. Here is a link.

i guess I will try to get a replacement bag from them. I just hate throwing away a bag that only needs to be recoated.

I have an RS Net and a Beckman. Both have their strong points but I find myself grabbing the Beckman more often.

Another thought, you could maybe take the webbing off the handle, put it in a plastic bag and squirt in a tube of silicone while massaging the bag/net. Then take the webbing out of the bag and gently wipe off the excess before hanging it out to cure.
