honestly as far as powder bullet combo there no one magically combo.
are thinking of running a smaller gr 140ish bullet or rev it up to the heavier stuff that the mag can handle? 160-170

if your going on a heavier side of things you want a slower burning powder. I would suggest retumbo. I don't have suggestions for the lighter stuff I as I shoot the 175gr bergers from mine
another thing you need to consider is what are you shooting and when. if you plan to use it for everything which it certainly is capable of from antelope to moose and elk yo need a temperature stable poweder meaning it burns the same regardless if its 15 or 84 out. temp insensitive powders will vary as much as 120-200fps when chrono at extremes.

FWIW buddy just double lunged a cow elk at 162.9 yards this wknd with a 139 gr hornady sst from his 7mm and it didn't go but 80 yards and piled up.

shoot that your gun tells you not what internet experts do.....

hogdon is noted for its temp stability

I found the 7mm to be a huge PIA! Mine took forever to get a load for. It shoots sub 1.25” groups at 200 now but it was a ton of work. My combo is 59.5 gr of Reloder 19 with Fed 215 match grade primers pushing 160 gr Nosler Accubonds around 2975 FPS. I don’t remember the COL but my bullets are 20 thousands off the lands. Also I use a full length resizing die set to partially resize the case.

I think i had 70 total loads before I started to dial one in that showed promise.

Also, that is off a lead sled every time to the range, for those who care! :;:stirthepot

Mine likes Barnes 140gr TSX and TTSX with I believe 65gr of IMR4831. Start a little low and work up on the powder, if memory serves me correct I also had good accuracy at lower powder number but ran with the little faster result.
The Hornady 168 ELDX have me intrigued but beings mine is whitetail only at this point I'm staying at 140 TTSX
Good luck

70.5 grains of H4831sc behind a 150gr long range accubond. Seated to magazine length. I can't recommend starting at 70.5 grains though.

I recently loaded 168 grain berger vld’s for a friend. I didnt measure his chamber for bullet seating depth i just mimicked factory rounds that worked for his gun. The best grouping was a 67 grain powder charge with reloder 26.

Not where I'd like to be
My 7mm is a moody beotch too -- really need to replace the factory barrel -- but I've had decent luck with the 150 TTSX and H1000, which is a temperature stable powder. I know it certainly kills elk -- at least one of them so far. 67.5 is a little slow for a 150, but I only have a 24 in barrel, and it seemed to group well.

This would now be used mainly for deer, I like 150 grain accubond and/or TTSX in my 308 and would like to stay with those as I really like the bullet. I will research the loads listed and start playing around with loads.

Thanks All!

Biggest thing on my gun was to use a heavier bullet. I don't remember the twist rate off hand but it hated anything under 160 and the lighter I went the worse it got. I didn't want to shoot 175's so 160 it was.

140g partition bullets with reloader 22 I can't remember the exact load. This is a real deer thumper on bigger deer it's almost always a instant kill (straight down). Between my dad and I we have killed over 60 deer with it and have yet to loose one. Flat shooting also at 2 inch zero at 100 you can aim at the top of the back at 400 and put em down

For my browning A-Bolt it was 140gr tsx and 70.5gr of Retumbo. My Browning X-Bolt Long Range Hunter on the other hand has been a fussy one. I got one group that was amazing with 150 ttsx's and 4831 but tried to repeat it and it wasn't even close.

h-1000 which i wont publish( above book max). 168 berger .002 off the lands with rem brass and rem 9.5m primers. It is shooting real good with low es and sd. Took it out to 1134 two weeks ago pounded 530 plate with ease. shooting sub moa at 100

loaded for 4 different 7 mags and h-1000 with either hornady or bergers have been easy to get to shoot good

.367.jpgI've been working up a load for my remington 700 in 7mag. Mine has a 26" barrel. I started with RL19 and Retumbo powder and 168 berger vld hunting bullets. I made up 40 rounds total. I did 5 shot groups at .005, .010, .015, and .020 off the lands with each powder. I don't remember what the initial powder charge was for the RL19 but it was a safe load. The Retumbo I ended up loading @ 69 grains even.
Out of these 8 loads, I had 2 groups that were around 1" @ 100 yards and I had 1 group that was a little over .6" @ 100 yards. The group that shot the .6" was loaded with retumbo @ .015" off the lands. The only problem i had was that my case necks were dirty as hell so I assumed that was a sign of low pressure. I went back to my reloading bench and began to work my Retumbo loads up. I loaded up another 33 rounds @ .015" off the lands (11-3 shot groups) slowly working my powder up to max load. I went back and tested my groups again and was able to get one of the batches to land at .367". Granted this is only a 3 shot group, but it will do for deer season this year.
My load this year will be 168 vld hunting bullets, norma brass, federal 215 Match primers, 71.8 grains of Retumbo loaded .015" off the lands, provided my next round of testing goes well. I've built a drop chart for it, now I need to go out and test it at a good distance so I can get a better velocity and then rebuild my drop chart again.

With all this being said, as I'm sure you already know, every gun is different. The only way to really know what load your gun likes is test, test, test.
