Anyone ever use a worksharp to sharpen their auger blades? This is on an Eskimo auger with shaver blades(think that’s what their called). I was gonna give it a whirl but was wondering if a feller should skip the medium grit band and just go over them with the fine. Curious how others have done it with success?

Just do it by hand with a medium file. Surprisingly easy and quick. Just watch your file angle...you can feel where the work needs to be done.

the worksharp bands flex/bend too much IMO

too much material needs to be removed as opposed to knives where relatively little needs to removed

actually I think it would work - with unlimited patience - very little pressure can be applied so that the band stays ‘flat’ and doesn’t wrap around the blade’s surface and make a convex surface

I used the green belt and sharpened my old chipper blade with success. I used the coarse green belt in order to apply very little pressure to keep the belt straight as Guy mentioned above. Sharpened both the blade and the point.
