Recently bought a 2007.5 2500HD silverado with the 6.0 in it. It pulled the trailer with the skid house on it great up into Manitoba last week, but I really only pull that trailer setup 8-10 times a year. The rest of the time its running around empty. I don't know anything about tunes or tuners, but a little research on them sounds like guys notice some nice differences with them. I'd mainly be looking at something I could run a couple different tunes in, one for a tow haul mode (to help the shifting points) and one for a fuel efficient mode when it is empty.
I don't expect it to magically turn into a different truck, but 2-3 mpg gain when empty would be sweet. I'd also like to be able to see the realtime MPG and other info not on the panel.
Does anybody have any experience with tuners? Custom tune the way to go?
