Any advice from the peanut gallery?
We are taking our pooch( 4yr old Springer) when we drive to Gulf Shores Alabama for about a week at the end of Feb. Besides the obvious things....ie...try not to let pooch drink salt water( ie provide plenty of fresh water for her to drink, limiting pooches exposure to the ocean, perhaps only a couple hours a day, thoroughly rinsing her off with fresh water afterwards, be on the look out for diarrhea or vomiting) is there anything else we should be on the look out for that perhaps you have experienced, either good or bad regarding taking the pooch to the beach with us? Not sure the better half would enjoy it but I am sure there may be a bathing beauty or two who may like to visit said pooch and pet her. Crap..back to the question at hand. lol

ha ha - I've done that before and a guy can't believe it when he sees it.

I've never owned a pooch that's spent time at the ocean. In fact Royce is a wuss when it comes to water so I wouldn't have to worry!

While stationed in Jacksonville Fl, the biggest concern with respect to a dog was the dog carrying sand and salt water into the car and destroying the interior. Dogs tend to taste the water and then leave it be. Call it instinct or whatever, but I've never seen a dog quench it's thirst in the ocean. I have frequently seen a dog carry and subsequently spread all over the car what appeared to be tons of sand and saltwater. Keep plenty of fresh water available and a good defensive plan for the sand and you should be all right. Enjoy the NON WINTER and yes I'm jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd check to make sure there are beaches that allow dogs there. Never thought it would be a big deal but a lot of beaches dont allow dogs by the water. I'd also look into if there has been any red tide in that area or near by.
