First day of high school trap practice. Boy is hitting about 50%, not bad for his first day on the team

Last round he went 17/25, was impressive to me, being I can’t ussually hit that and he is only a 7th grader. Wish we would have had this when I was a kid

Another good day of busting clays. I highly recommend anyone with 7-12th grade kids giving this a try

HS trap is keeping the Horace range VERY busy. This, combined with competent management, is likely to keep the Horace range open in perpetuity. Think I’ll take the boy shooting today.

I have never been a good wingshot. So not wanting to pass my bad habits on to my kids I spent a few bucks and turned them over to Mark Sandness from Bismarck's Capital City Sporting Clays. Best investment ever.

Our coaches spend time watching each shooter with stance, gun positions, follow through, etc. Each kid gets tons of helpful ideas, including some class room training after each round to get specific tips on hitting more clays. It’s really an unknown gem for these kids.

Good for both boys and girls. One of the top shooters in a local club is a 9th grade gal. And it is gaining popularity really fast.

There is a very strong program in Devils Lake as well. I have been to a few sporting clay shoots in Bismarck. There was a coach that brought several kids their that would win several of the events. I can't remember the young man's name. It seemed that he was a great teacher as well. This was years few years ago and I have not seen a lot of him or the kids at recent shoots. Somebody had told me he quit teaching. What a shame. He seemed to have the kids attention and done very well with them.

Capital City Young Guns should also be considered in this discussion. Great program with great sponsors and coaches,
