I would like to tie my own crawler harness, but I am unsure what line to use in making them. Would Nanofil be appropriate ?

Nano would be a pain to thread beads and a clevis onto. Just spitballing here, but, I'd think a clevis might fray Nano fairly quickly as well.

Flourocarbon that's 2-4# UNDER the test strength of your main line is my preference.

Nano would be the worst line to make harnesses with. Mono or flouro is the usual go to.

I'd use 10lb mono and slow death hooks

Personally I like a good 12# flouro. Get the leader material, not the flouro line material. Leader flouro is stiffer than flouro made for main line. Holds up really well for lindy's, slow death, etc and won't get the memory in your line that mono or mainline flouro will.

Use 10# or stronger mono or flourocarbon depending on your mainline size. I use 10# power pro and 12# mono leaders and seldom break off at the weight.

I also like the 15# Fluorocarbon ( Seaguar Red Label) for my leaders. :;:rockit

I've been using suffix elite 10# mono for many years now and have had great luck with it. My wife and I own a tackle business now and tie around 10,000 rigs per year. For the time being I get my line in 3000 yard spools and have found them randomly for as low as $33/spool

Depends, water clarity is a big factor, areas of extreme fishing pressure one needs to think "line senitveity" fish, most walleye lakes we fish have Gin clear water so 4-6lb leader line in "ultra thin works for us when riggin crawlers or leeches,if your target fish are suspended off the bottom a few feet fluro wouln't be the "goto leader line as fluro is hollow and sinks great for bottom huggin walleyes, stained water one can beef up leader line such as 8 to 10lb test and use a beefy #4 or #2 salmon egg hook in brand of your choice, lots to pick from out there on store shelves, just a couple thoughts.

I have Seaguar 10# leaders to match the 10# line, but will likely increase to the 15# Seaguar Red Label for next year. I don't think it holds up as well under tension (snags, etc.) and breaks pretty easily.

Depending on what I grab out of the box, its either 8 or 10lb Trilene XT or XL in clear or low vis green.
