i just made some different dove decoy trees, pretty excited to try them out this evening, put the mojo on top of the tree with some to clip on my "branches" and i've got other pedestals for some wind powered decoys and some with short steaks for on the ground.. should be a good lookin dove set up!

Man I forgot how hard they are to hit! Put up the commercial version of a dove tree like what MM has a pic of. If you think the darn things are hard to hit normally try hitting them going down wind in full lock up mode as they decoy in, takes it to a hole other level! But damn do they decoy to that robo like a champ!

well my first evening hunt was kind of a bust... got out there a little late because i was checking trail cams, but i did talk to a land owner and got permission to hunt his canola fields that have an old gravel pit in them.... once that canola is harvested it should be a hot spot!

Yeah, the dove tree and mojo work pretty good. Even had a couple doves land on it while I was looking for a downed bird.

This is mine took about 15 min to make and about 8$ worth of materials. I just used the gray electrical pvc. Works good and brakes down small easy to carry.

Would be more fun if you could use 17HMR to shoot their heads off once they land.... For me at least

Does anybody know the rules for hunting doves on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation south of Devils Lake? Everything that I have found has been very vague. I might need a special reservation hunting license?

I'm sure it's like the other res's in that if your on land controlled by them you will need their tag and if your on land owned by none natives its open for state tags. The rub is knowing who controls what...best to see if they have a res map like others do so its not a guessing game.

The majority of that res is deeded land owned by farmers. I would just go hunting. The Spirit Lake Nation Wildlife Department has maps but they really suck. Their office is SW of the casino on hwy 57. It is a trailer where the hillside was dug out between the casino and fort totten. if you do ask the Slnfwd about hunting doves they will tell you that you need a license for the entire reservation. That is false. There is a lot of grey areas out there. The Slnfwd also has a young warden that drives a white dodge pickup with cherries on top. If you are hunting farmed land you can bet that it falls under ND regs. There are alot of doves in the canola fields up there. Good luck.

I just used rebar and some pipe with a but welded to a hole I drilled so you could secure the limbs in I also made a support rod on the bottom that I bent out to stick into the ground so it's not just one small bar going into the ground.
