Always a good topic. I like hear what the naysayers have against the 6mm flavors.

Discuss.....

Absolutely.....not! Great caliber especially for smaller hunters/huntresses that can't handle recoil.

I killed a 6x6 mulie with my .243 I heard of Montanans using itvon elk but some Evan smaller like 22-250 or 220 swift for elk its all about bullet placement and if your comfortable with it.

243 is probably too small for deer if you gotta ask if it's too small for deer.

My brother shot a 243 for 25 years. He let others, myself included use it too. With east and west river double tags most years, that rifle has killed over 100 deer easy. So anyone dogging a 243 doesn't know jack.

one of the best calibers for white tail there is. but as with all calibers it's only as good as the guy using it

.223 is better.

The smaller caliber you shoot the bigger the nuts.

My dad has shot many a deer with his .244 and never really had a problem. Used to be harder to find ammo than a 30-30 or some of the other common ones but he likes it for the less kick since he's had both shoulders replaced.

It is too small if your deer is 11 feet tall, has a trunk and two giant gray ears. Wish I had one.

My daughter killed her first deer with it on youth opener. My son has 5 deer under his belt all using this caliber. I personally like the 25-06 but 243 is great for kids.

I don't know I will get a pick of it. The writing on the action seems Austrian or German. Grandpa shot nra small bore with it. My grandma tells me he must of passed the shooting gene down to me. Wish he lived longer I was only 8 when he passed but still remember shooting and hunting with him.

Going 7.62 this year. Trying to decide between x39 or x51. Both make me giggle. (Not FULL giggle. They're all broken by the ATF so only one bang per trigger pull.)

Should feel like an idiot for asking---that a big no from me, I've shot yotes, whitetail, mulies, and my own buffalo bulls without a problem..

.243 with a 100 grain partition is a bang flop scenario.
