I agree - shore fishing can be great. Thumbs Up

But it can occasionally suck due to:

  • tons of random garbage left by a-hats
  • drunk guys dropping the f-bomb every third word
  • mud up to your knees
  • mosquitos
  • snags
  • wicked knee-wrenching wet rip rap
  • stench of rotting fish a-hats threw on shore
  • budinskees who horn in by casting right into your 10 foot circle of water that catches the most fish

Often times you are forced to fish in a certain small area (below a dam for instance) to catch fish so that you don't have the ability to relocate to get away from the above.

Any that I forgot?

Cheers,
Captain Bitterman

p.s. Let's try to keep this positive - no sense in being a Debbie Downer this Monday morning!

Ba ha ha.

Drunks using beyond vulgar language around the kiddos...:(. Bugs and snags. Not easy to get loose from a snag while standing on the shore...

you are exaggerating about the mud you old coot - you have stood on those shores for so many hours it's now compressed into concrete

Walking back up the hill to the truck to get some food and tripping on the way back down. Rolling/tumbling the rest of the way down the hill.

Or am I the only one that has happened to?

People who come and stand behind you just watching. Even worse at night when they sit in the vehicle with the headlights on.

I was fishing a secluded spot when a local Ag center started purging their anhydrous tanks about a quarter mile upwind of me. Air got kind of rank for a while. When he finally noticed my vehicle, he shut it down and came over to apologize. Even made the beer taste bad.

Caught fish covered in grass and gravel. Not having all of the "stuff" a guy can have in a boat, even a small boat.

1 One spot we shore fish at night is spooky after the bars close and every drunk thinks they need to see how your doing.

2 People that let their kids run loose and the kids have no respect for others and start pulling in your stringer, digging in your bait or tackle boxes or even messing with your lines.

3 people in your "secret" spot not catching anything when you know you would limit out in a short period of time.

4 wife says cant get to the deep water from shore.

5 Weeds, cattails, ticks and other bugs.

and many many more

Wisconsinites. This also includes boat fishing and hunting, and likely any other activity one may partake in. I also dislike not catching fish and running out of beer.

Only on the spots where you catch walleyes. Everywhere else the mud is 4 ft deep.
