A buddy and I went out this weekend to a few of the better perch lakes in the area hoping to locate a hot spot. We chased all over the lakes going shallow and deep and everything was dead. I figured after 2 days of covering lakes we'd be on to something promising but I have nothing. Has anyone else had any luck?

Haven't tried for perch yet. I like to cover a lot of ice and until there is quality ice all over a lake, I'll stick to walleyes.

Perch don't really tickle my fancy much. They are moderately fun until you have to clean all the little bastages.

Perch are easy to clean. No different then cleaning a walleye. Only difference is they taste much better.

You are correct. The main difference is staring down 40-60 of the darn things instead of 10-15 if you get into them. And you pretty much have to keep every darn one of them including the dinks that fit in a hot dog bun because you had to pull them out 30+ feet. Unless you stick poke them back under the ice and hope they don't float back up the holes you are fishing out of. Ha ha

It took me 2 hours to clean the 40 saturday night. It takes several beers to get them done but seeing a heaping bowl of perfectly cleaned jumbo perch brings a ray of sunshine from heaven directly into my heart.
