Less chance of a bite off with steel fishin for pike, have yet to see pike as finicky feeders,I even had pike latch onto walleyes hangin on my stringer off the side of my boat.Musky fishin the same, best to use solid steel leaders instead of braided steel.

Steel for pike on tip ups I just tie directly to the black braid and never had a problem.

Steel for pike. Like what was said above....not really picky eaters.

For musky I use 150 lb. fluorocarbon leaders except for walk-the-dog style baits where I still use solid wire.

Titanium leaders work very well. I have caught lots of walleyes with titanium leaders also.

I don't believe walleye GAF about a black wire leader attached to a crankbait. That being said, I make my own and streamline the hardware.
