If you got up early(4 am'ish), headed to the lake for a day of ice fishing. Get out of your pickup to gather your gear to get onto the ice and then realize you forgot to grab your locator, would you

A) fish anyway

B) Run back home and try for a night bite

C) Give up and just head to the pub and finish your day there.

I personally would fish anyway, hope for the best with a jigging rod, and some bobber action dead sticks.

I would fish anyway. Should know where to go, and most of the time I don't pay attention to the finder anyway.

Run back and get my locator

- - - Updated - - -

Find a closer lake to finish the day if time doesn't allow for a trip back

Kind of like forgetting the key to the boat

Ive done it before tho not quite 100 miles, but around 70 miles. I drove back home, took a nap and watched football.

Set up the tipups and fish for pike. Tackle, trip, punch, or throw contraband at anyone who tries to get to flag first! Haha.

Did that once. I paid my buddy's wife $20 to use hers. He was pissed she jumped at my first offer. Ha ha

If its a lake I have been fishing recently and the bite is strong and consistent I will stay and fish. If its like its been this year where the bite is tough and you have to hole hop allot then I go back and get it and like said would probably head to a closer lake.

This^^

I quit using a fish finder when I realized how much easier it is to just set up shop next to another house.

We used to pound the crappies in high school and never had a flasher. Just set slip bobbers somewhere in the water column and adjust it up or down every 10 minutes or so until something hit. Once we found the depth, we'd set all the bobbers in the general area and wait. Had some really good nights, too.

Never did as well as we did once we picked up a Vex. But we still managed more than a couple fresh fish meals.

Two possibilities. Buy a new one and swing in on the way back, stating "I didn't like it." Or swing by the local pub and pretend I went fishing.
