Curious as to what you guys have changed in your fishing habits/equipment for Lake Winnipeg over the years.

I really want want to take a small permanent up this year for a base camp will have to wait and see though depending on snow.

I've switch from buying perch stuff to live targets and clacking raps. Tracked vehicles and 2 extensions.

I caught two 30"ers on a Dirty Mike painted Jackall TN60. I'm hoping he calls it ( Snooty Patooty ) after my daughter.

I wouldnt go to the land of giants without that color bait.

Great pic. I think I saw him heat-shrinking that exact lure. Is that what you used to catch the fish in the release video? I couldn't make out what you called the color, but this makes sense.

Sawyer,
Dirty Mike, are you buying these as blanks?

- - - Updated - - -

I'm not sure if I'd change much from my previous trip. Headed up first weekend in March this year. Went 2nd to last weekend last year, so we'll see how much impact that will have on bite and fish location. I'd say move more, but honestly for me, that all depends on weather. When it's descent out I use the pullover for nothing more than a chair. But there are days when the wind will just make you want to be inside. Catch rate does seem to increase a bit with moving, but it's not night and day better. If you're in the fish, sitting in one spot can work well too.

Sawyer,
What size lures do most of you use? I hate that some brands speak in length and some by weight. Most of the ones I've had luck on would be the 2-2-1/2".

The blanks cost a lot more than what I'm used to.

I was lucky enough to land a few green backs earlier this week on a nice DirtyMike
IMG_4508.jpg

Both of them were used, the blue one seemed to bring in more fish, but the lighter colored one brought in bigger fish.

I used a variety of lures this trip, but my big buddy Darrin was the luck one to land the biggest out of our group with a nice 32"+ fatty

I will go again, but catching 8-12 pound trophies isn't as fun as it used to be. I am setting my sights on a mid to upper teens. I will need some planning and luck.
