Stay away from the refuge islands to the north shore of Audubon. Ice was anywhere from less than 1 inch to about 7 inches in this area. Found areas we could not even walk on. I had driven back an forth from 3 mile to the east side a number of times. Dont follow any tracks in that area, they would be mine. It is too thin for a ATV also. See the map (reported by Nodak Icefishing on fb)

A truck dropped through on cottonwood lake in McLean county ND today. With the temps not helping us out ice conditions change very fast even if you drove the same trail yesterday. Always be cautious out there!

I wouldn't drive on any ice with anything anywhere in ND anymore.

I was in that area on Audubon on Friday. I walked out, and was inside the circle between the middle and right side. There were a few vehicles just outside the left side of the circle. I was set up in 12ft of water and had about 13 inches of ice at that time. There were lots of vehicle tracks, but it looked like there were quite a few that had already been out pulling houses off. Only fished for a few hours, but never marked a fish.

Just heard that the picture of Audubon was supposedly from December....time stamp shows 01/24/2016, but we still had pretty good ice before things warmed up. I'm confused. Can anyone confirm?

Is there a cottonwood lake in Mclean county? Just wondering if this is the cottonwood in McHenry County instead?

That first pic is certainly from last year. I had it posted on my FB page a year ago....

I like to ice fish, but ice fishing to me is more work, as in dragging all your stuff along. I haven't drove out yet, and will not drive out this year. Its not worth dropping your pickup in, or worse yet drowning. ;:;badidea I also like to shore fish, and have a boat to use, its hook it up and go as everything stays right in the boat in my garage. :;:rockit :;:cheers

jigs, jigging raps, and rippin raps are all im buying this year

pretty positive I don't fish the jigging raps and rippin raps correctly. Hell, I finally just got jigs figured out. What's a guy to do when your old man has a giant tackle box and only fishes a lindy rig.

There is a Cottonwood Lake west of Garrison and just south of Makoti. Yes, two of them not far from each other.
