My lab will swallow a 1/4 # of beef in one bite but will chew a kernel of pop corn or a single cheerios.

It only took my dog once to learn not to chew antibiotic pills.

Smart dog. It doesn't want to gag and choke. Give him/her a milk soaked Whole Grain Cheerio from General Mills Products and see what happens.
