The deer gun season opens Friday in North Dakota and now a portion of one hunting until will be closed do to safety concerns.
Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kichmeier says some areas near the protest site are unsafe for hunters.
An area south of county road 135 to the Cannon Ball River and east of Highway 1806 will be closed.
That's part of unit 3C.
Hunters will need to present a valid hunting license if they encounter a traffic control point.
Contact the Game and Fish Department at 328-6300 with any questions.

sounds to me like they are worried about stray bullets at the protest encampment. smart call by the law enforcement.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and was clearly written by someone who's never been there! so basically they shut down hunting on land that is about 50% owned by Dakota access save for some of the stuff up by fort rice and the piece of Corps of Engineers ground at and just to the north of the main camp that was already closed but yet leaves open the Corp ground that runs right through a number of the camps and 50 yards or so south of the main camp. stopping it at the cannonball makes no sense . ..if it's safty for the natives then highway 24 is the logical choice. only logical reason I can come up with is they don't want any excuse for the natives to have weapons in the area yet any of them cold clame they are hunting coyotes or just about anything else and be perfectly legal.

The first sentence of this 6 sentence article leads me to believe the Tribune is still resorting to child labor, but now the kids are writing articles. "Until" "Do"
