Having seen some thorne bros ice rods with a guide wrapped on the end i have decided to try that instead of the regular tip top guide. My question is how in the he!! do guys do that. It may take some trial and error but any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Wrapping the tip sucks. It usually takes me 3-5 times to get the thread to stick and ride up the guide foot right. I've switched to normal tip tops. Then I throw on some trim.
For this wrap, I place rod supports as close as I can. The blank is so thin, a rubber band won't hold it tight and masking tape gets in the way. I secure the tip with a few trim wraps and cut those away as I wrap.

I've used Flex Coat guide foot adhesive with decent luck. It's basically hot glue and holds it on Once the guide is wrapped, you can still break the bond to allow for small alignment tweaks prior to applying epoxy on the wraps.
