So, I bought a used Lund Tyee last summer. At the very end of the season, my trim motor took a dump. It doesn't look like it would be that tough to replace myself other than getting the motor lifted out of the way.

anyone have any experience with this or would it be better to take it in somewhere to ensure it's done right?

thanks for any advice you may have.

Labor isn't the expensive part with a shop will only charge you a couple hours on it. But knowing from experience get your manufacture trim motor. It's gonna be more expensive but it has warranty on it to where after market doesn't.

The little hex shaped shaft, between the motor and pump, got rounded on mine late last year. There's a couple good videos on YouTube, took maybe two hours and worked on the first try. There is a large plastic screw on the right side of the trim pump, use a wide, flat screw driver and turn it counter clockwise a half turn or so, and the pressure will release. Then hope it is either the motor, or little shaft, the pump is quite spendy.
