My son is 11, he did hunter saftey last year and will get his first doe tag this fall. I was thinking about trying to spoil him and get him a tribal buck tag as well. I know I could get of my ass and call them, but does anybody know if they have a age limit? I tried to create him a acoount and it wont proceed with out a driver's license number. Any one have any experience?

Those ass clowns should be giving all of us free buck tags for the next ten years after all the money they have cost us. I have no answer for you.

U can hunt down there as long as its not on tribal land. I hunted down there this last fall and a large number of jackoffs driving around on tribal land chasing deer with their trucks. Guess if you are a member you can do whatever you want. Id say put some time in out in the badlands and try for a monster mulie, much less chance of being harassed by the locals out there also IMO. I dont go to the reservation without a gun, even if Im not hunting!

Yes , a youth deer combo for Montana would be a great choice

- - - Updated - - -

The Montana big game youth combo (general deer and elk) is only $510. That's a steal . As long as he turns 12 by January 2018 he's eligible for it.

Idaho if you have a tag a junior tag is 45 dollars. Have to hunt with each other all the time is the stipulation

NW ND somewhere
I'll just put this out there too...I"d stay away for SR for now, after all this protest crap they stirred up, let them hurt for awhile, including the casino. Take your son on a hunt in a different area.

I get what everyone is saying. I basically work Sept- Dec so taking time off and going out of town is hard. The Montana option is a maybe. Honestly, I love hunting down there. Where I dont agree with actions the tribe has taken. Id still feel safer taking my boy hunting down there than anywhere within a 30 mile radius of Bismarck.

Another option I'll throw out there is Minnesota. Even as an out of stater he can get a free, over the counter tag, to shoot a deer of his choice.

It's a drawing this year with apps due by the end of the month. I have no idea how they work it with youth tags but the season will be late October through Dec 10th. Was down this morning dicking around and walked a short 1.2 mile loop back into a couple treeless draws didn't find any sheds or dead deer but did bust up about 50 deer including what looked to be a bachelor group with some serous body size to them so clearly the winter didn't get them very bad. Now pheasants on the other hand are looking pretty slim.

By far your best option is South Dakota. Youth season is September 9th til January 15th. The cost of the tag is $10 and you can shoot an antlerless whitetail or mule deer statewide. This is for 12-18 year olds, resident and non resident. PM or as here if you have any more questions. Below is the link to the details

I thought I heard it is 20 non refundable and you can buy up to 5 points that are non refundable. Seems they are looking for ways to make more money I wonder why? I. The deer note I have also seen some deer the pheasants seem to have made it through pretty good down here

Antlered deer at 11 seems extreme. If I were you and wanted a buck tag for him and he will be 12 by season start of apply for a whitetail buck tag in some good units in SD with a lot of public land is not a guaranteed draw, but an easy draw for $335

Yeah I was actually shocked they didn't up the tag as well. Demand has gotten so high they could have easily done if but this way they found a way to double dip. Will be curious to see how the deer turn out this year since last year had a big jump in numbers but an over all drop in quality.
