Well, they quit making revolvers, screwed the pooch multiple times on bolt action rifles, never had a shotgun worth a damn, and are now subject to a bajillion competitors in the AR and 1911 market. Doggone difficult to sell entry level AR's @ $1200 anymore.
It's sad but they did it to themselves. Lasted this long on government contracts. Their civilian market stuff has not been keeping up for a long time. I would love a 1911 that says colt on the side. But for the same money I can buy a far better gun. They didn't listen to the market. Seems it cost them.
When you feed at the government tit you're signing your own death certificate. Same thing is happening with HK: ignore civilians and only pursue huge gov't contract, depend solely on name recognition. HK and Colt are now racing to see who can go bankrupt first.
