Kind of surprised this topic doesn't come up more. I recently came into a setup. I've got the itch. Whatdya shoot and how far? I'm starting with .308 and a scope that cost more than most of my rifles. It's... bitchin'

You need to load some 155gn Lapua Scenars or 155gn 2156 Sierra Palmas. Higher BC than all of the 168-175/8's and lighter weight adds velocity too. Free Lunch.

7mm with Nightforce NSX 5.5x22x56 shooting 162sst 1208 yards 15" groups, and a F&N TSR .300 wsm with a Vortex PST 6x24x50 shooting 208 Amax only shot at 100 yds but just under .5" groups. This winter I put together a Patriot Ordnance Factory in .243 with Vortex PST 6x24x50 shooting 105 Amax been shooting 3" groups at 500 yds I really like the minimal recoil of the .243 I can fire see the splash fire another round then hear the report of the 1st one hitting

Load? What's this "load" you speak of? Lake City 149gr FMJ should give me a 1000 yd rifle... right? ;-)

6.5creedmoor 140 amax. If you can't read the wind all the gadgets in the world won't help.

I recently had a .22-250 with a 1:8 twist built. I bought a bunch of 75 grain amax's for it. Been to busy fishing though to load any shells yet haha.

Started with a stock .308 remington 700 sendora and a Zeiss scope. Pushed that to just a hair over 1000. Since then, moved onto a .260 and haven't had a chance to push it out past 1000 yet. Expensive hobby when just the stock costs more than many off the shelf rifles.

Long range shooting is far more about reloading time and trigger time than the rest of the gadgets. A good rifle and scope make a big difference but without a good load for that rifle and trigger time to know what it's actually doing you're not gonna get far. I've been working on my 243 all winter and now my custom 7mm for about two months and while they shoot great to 300 I still havnt stretched em out yet and after 300 is where everything gets interesting!

Rem 870, Simmons 3-9x32, sabot slugs. I can shoot the nuts off a gnat at 1000 paces............running shot

Yeah but you got little feet and short legs. 1000 of your paces is still only 34yds.

A few things I've learned...
- be careful it is addicting!
- ask questions and listen to the answers and experiment
- be prepared to get frustrated at times
- wind is voo doo!!

longest to date for me is hair over 1200 with 7STW and 243AI, both hunting rifles. My consistency isn't there at that range yet but 700 down I've gained much more confidence by listening to a great coach! The challenge has been thrown for the mile long shot, one day!
