  1. Hook to the River

We put in at Parshall, poked around the hook, then the Pouch area, and the Independence Point area, but had trouble getting the fish to go, so we worked our way up river. We eventually got into some fish, but not until we got to the Huntsalong/Reunion Bay area. We were trolling jigs, and trolling lindy's with minnows. Both produced fish. We found them in the 25 fow range. It was pretty windy where we were, so we ended up moving at .8 to sometimes over a mile per hour.
Not the best day ever, but I think we managed a dozen 'eyes or so, a handful of white bass, a few pike, 3 nice catfish, ...

  2. New Town and West

We put in at New Town yesterday. We were kind of flying blind, so we decided to start there and work our way west. It was 36 degree water at New Town. We marked just a few at sh**house, with no luck. We moved on to White Earth Bay. The water was around 41 degrees in the bay there, but it was pretty muddy. We fished in regardless for just a bit, with no luck. We tried a few other spots, then found a bunch of catfish on the electronice around the pipeline area. We caught a couple of those and moved on. We ended up out by Lund's Landing and found a lot of life, and water temps at around ...

  3. Parshall Bay - Sakakawea

The wife and I had a weekend without the kiddos, so we headed for the cabin to do a bit of fishing. We told ourselves that we were only going to fish new spots, instead of our same ole' same ole'. We ended up fishing way up in 'The Hook'. We had enough wind to drift, so we each drifted with a bouncer and a crawler, while each of us also drift jigged with a 1/4 oz jig and a plastic. The jig and plastic was the better producer on both days, and the weekend kicked out a better class of fish for us, while also providing us with some lunch.

  4. Sakakawea - VanHook

The wife, two of our kids, and I fished Friday afternoon through Sunday. We did well again off of Gull on Friday and Saturday, pulling crawlers in 16-20 fow. A lot of lunch fish with the occasional nicer fish.

On Sunday, my dad made the trip down to the cabin, and went fishing with us. We went out towards the river and pulled cranks in 25-28 fow and caught a pile of fish. That new Flicker Shad and Flicker Minnow color of Blue Shiner was outpacing everything else by quite a margin.

It still sounded like guys were doing well on a lot of the mid lake structure, but ...

  5. Van Hook Arm

The wife, the kids, and I went out Thursday night. We got out late, since I had to work during the day. We tried a couple of spots along shorelines, and had little luck, so we decided to check some mid-lake structure and ended up doing real well off of Fox island. I think we ended up catching 20, or so ,that night, pulling slow death hooks, and pitching fake minnows on a jig into a wind blown point. Nicer fish, including a 26".

Friday we hit the same area and had a tougher time catching fish. We tried a couple of other mid-lake structure areas and ended up doing "okay". ...

  6. Parshall Bay-Van Hook

Robyn and I took two of our kiddos to the lake for the weekend. When we have the younger kids with we tend to pull bottom bouncers, or drag jigs. They get bored senseless when we pull cranks, and one is still too young for pitching jigs. I'd like to try and get them into a good bobber fishing bite. I think they'd get a big kick out of that.

This weekend we pulled our slow death hooks, with crawlers (mostly). We tried a few spots in the "arm", with some success, but it wasn't great, so we tried running out to some areas by the river channel, and ended up doing pretty ...

  7. West Sakakawea

I took the whole family out, including my father in law, for a weekend on the water. We had a good ole' time. We caught our 'eyes, and about a million white bass. We were mostly using jig and minnow, or pulling spinners. My youngest son was casting a jig and plastic. The wife stayed true to her crawlers. We caught fish on all of it. I know guys were doing well with cranks as well.

Sounds like the hook is also doing okay for 'eyes, and after this warm week of weather, I would guess it will be quite good by next weekend.

  8. West Sakakawea

The wife, our daughter, and I headed out fishing this evening. We were west of White Earth a ways. We fished in 7-12 fow for the most part. Drifting/jigging a jig and minnow seemed to be the best for us. My 7 year old daughter had a hay day with a bottom bouncer and a green smile blade with a minnow on it. She schooled us today, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

We had a solid day for walleye, and slaughtered the white bass.

It was a great day that the wife and I will always remember.

  9. Audubon

A group of us went to Audubon just for the late evening. We caught 8 'eyes in total, and a smallie. They were deeper than we expected, in about 20 fow. Jigging spoons and minnows mostly.
The North Lake had a bunch of open water, but where we were was 2+ feet of ice. The ice was certainly soft and auger'd up in cubes.
Guessing it will go fast now.

A lot of folks around the culvert. We were more in the Velva Point area.

  10. Tailrace, again.

3 of us hit the Tailrace today.
We had a pretty fun day. We caught a handful of HUGE carp, 1 burbot, 1 rainbow trout, a handful of catfish, some cisco, and some 'eyes. We kept 9 walleye on the day, using jiggin' raps by the spillway.

Water was 58-60 degrees. It was a real nice day to be on the water.

  11. Tailrace

A couple of us hit the Tailrace this morning. We only fished for a couple of hours, and ended up with six nice 'eyes. Finally got the tin can river rat boat on the water. I can happily report that no issues arose.

    We were using jiggin' raps.

  12. The Hook

Tough bite for us today, and way too hot out for this guy. We ground it out regardless. We ended up keeping six, and threw back 10-12 smaller ‘eyes. Caught a nice pike and plenty of white bass, again.

We found our fish mostly in 18-20 fow.

I’ll give ‘er another go tomorrow.
