What is your favorite crank bait for walleye? Color, brand, size etc.

I have a couple. I love the new Rapala Scatter Rap tail dancer river fishing. That thing just puts fish in the boat. Perch color seems to work best for me.

Flicker shads at Sakakawea. Anything with chartreuse or green in it in 7-12fow.

All of them. I have a problem.

Never without my flicker shad/minnows and original floaters/husky jerks though. I've started accumulating more reef runners though. Only unfortunate thing about them, they run as straight as a gay pride parade.

I have the same problem with them. I can get most of them adjusted and running true, but I have a couple no matter what I do they just run awful. What have you done to solve this issue?

I'll adjust with one of those little tools they sell. If I get a bump or run it into a rock and it knocks it out of tune, I usually just let it rot in the tackle box.

Crank baits are addicting that is for sure. I have way to many. I know I forget I have half of what I got. Like most everyone else commenting before my go to cranks are reef runners and flickers. The color thing is what drives me crazy. One week you think you figured out the colors they want and then the following week you have to go through different colors again to find what they want. So for me it is hard to have a favorite color but you can't go wrong with any combination of green, chartreuse, white, purple, pink, black, brown, blue, gray, silver, pearl, orange, silver, red.

Whatever one is working the best.

No for sure favorite in my boxes. I like them all. Most can be good in different situations. Still hard to beat the old balsa Shadraps for trolling and Reef runners are great although it seems I have to tune every one out of the box. There was a time scheels sold an ugly crankbait called Sparkle Tail. I still have one left. They are walleye catching machines trolling in 10-14 ft range. Hard to beat flicker shads for pitching on DL. Yozuri Crystal Minnows are really good but break the bank when I loose one:mad:

Does the sparkle tail have a long soft tail?

I tend to avoid cranks if I can but they have their times and places. I still think these old timers are still the best. I'm a big fan of casting the countdown.
