Iam going to be in Grand forks this weekend, and iam hoping sneak away from the inlaws to get a opportunity to go fishing on Sunday morning for a few hours.. Is there any spots (community holes) that a guy can go fishing on shore in town or north of town that would be worth my time.. never fished the red and am looking for a little guidance..

Thanks

Go fish along the banks of the Red and Red Lake River below Cabela's. Lot's of places to access by vehicle or you can walk to a few spots along the ATV trail too.

For bait, Try frogs or fresh cut sucker and use at minimum a 2 oz no roll above a snell of 8-10 inches with a circle hook. Use the least amount of weight that will keep you from drifting. I like size 8/0 for the circle hooks. Also, take a sturdy rod holder. Otherwise...;:;banghead

From shore I would use 3 or 4 oz to make darn sure you are not drifting. I the heat comes as forecast the fish will be feeding on the breaks or in the middle and you will want to stick. I would look at Lincoln Park or the other spots noted. Remember that now you have to have the license for the state that you are physically sitting in to shore fish. All of that below Cabelas is MN. I would have a few suckers to cut and some frogs.
