  1. Se nd

Took a buddy of mine from Texas out on Saturday for his first ever ice fishing experience/adventure. Got to the lake about 11am and the Ranger wouldn't start so we just walked out and started searching, finally marked a few and got setup for gills and crappie. Marked a lot of fish overall but enticing a bite was tricky and tried everything from tungsten's with waxies and plastics to small spoons (lindy jigging spoon/vmc flashchamp) and even 1/16oz VMC Tingler and #3 rippin rap with pink white UV seeming best, minnow and bobbers also produced a few. Ice was about 24-26in thick and the water is ...

Got out later last night after work to sling a few baits. Managed hooking 2 small cars again and a goldeye on beef liver along with many small hits. Liver produced best with hits on goldeye but less committed. Worked the fast and slack water in a 90 degree bend in a few different areas and the fish seemed to be right in the middle ground and particularly in one specific area. Depending on current tried 2, 3, 4oz sinkers.

  3. Bassing for Cats Pt Deux

Hit the river Saturday to see what I could find for more catfish beings the last couple were do tasty. Tried to find some frogs on short notice with no luck so it ended up being beef liver for bait. The river had come up 2.5-3ft so that forced me to work the bank a little different and trying to find a different angle for working the current in about a 90 degree turn of the river. Finally got into a spot were I could work the faster moving down stream as well as the eddies circling back with my rods only spaced 2ft apart. The fast current produced a smaller cat and the Eddie area gave me 3 more ...

  4. Bassing for Cats

As I was cleaning garage on Sunday morning and seeing my tackle boxes had collected more dust I decided that I just had to go wet a line. I decided to hit the Sheyenne in an area I have had moderate success in the past and just hoped I could find something willing to bite artificial lures as I had no bait. Rigged up a couple rods with jigs and my baitcasters got a slip rig with 2oz no roll sinkers. Pulled up to my spot and was unloading when a frog jumped, I took that as a sign that he was meant for bait so I snagged him. Got setup and the frog wasn't in the water for 5min before the rod started ...
