What does everyone do as far as keeping a firearms inventory?

I have a document/form that I created. There is one page for each firearm that contains the basic information like model #, serial #, gauge, date of purchase, cost...yada, yada, yada. I also inserted images of each firearm, including a shot of the serial #. I have this printed off and in our safe. I also have an electronic copy of it stored online.

What is everyone else doing?

That is a really good idea. I have a buddy that had all his guns stolen. Cops found them but he needed all that info to get them back. Been a year now and still hasn't gotten them back.

I always keep a few loaded to make sure the inventory maintains it's current number and location.

That's my primary insurance plan too? Does anyone know what insurance costs through the NRA?

Keep in mind that thieves can hack insurance offices fairly easy. Had a buddy get his house broken into and all they took was his guns. He later found out that his insurance agents computer info had been hacked about a week before the theft and his agent was a bit hesitant to tell his clients that little fact. He had the makes, models, and serial numbers of all his guns recorded under his insurance. Having your info of any kind in an electronic database is a double edged sword. It can be good or bad. He got a fraction of the value of his firearms as the insurance company only gave him the street value of his guns, not the collector value. Actual Example: He had a greener double barrel shotgun from 1900 and the insurance company called it just that. A 115 year old double barrel shotgun. You can guy a double barreled shotgun for a couple hundred bucks at a sporting goods store and that is what he was paid. Sucky Deal!!!!!

Um. Nothing. until after tonight. Then I'll have something. Most importantly, I need to invest in a gun safe.

I have a rider on my insurance for X amount in value. No information regarding the guns was required to be provided.

I have a list with serial numbers and optics broke down and matching pictures for each said item. A copy in the gun safe, fire proof safe and on a zip drive in another secret spot. My wife thought I was crazy but when she had us make living wills I listed a few of.the more special guns to who gets them. One way or another some one with my name sake will keep those guns in there possession.
