  1. tschida

Took the little 16ft lund out this last weekend on it's maiden voyage. The small walleyes(10-13")were like piranha. They were eating jigs, lindys, even spinners all tipped with minnows. Did manage to get a couple bigger females that were starting to dump eggs too. The water was 42-43 degrees. Our best fishing came on sunken structure in the 18-27foot range, but there was a shallow bite it was just harder to fish it in the wind. The occasional 23+" fish out deeper made it worth staying out deep, also got some bonus perch in the 12-13" range and a few eater male walleye 14-17", ...

  2. Mid sakakawea

Went out and spent a couple days on the ice last weekend on the south shore access was still really good, fishing for us was pretty slow the first night we set up in 24-26 feet the perch were stacked in there nothing big probably about 9” to 5” fish, kept the kids busy, did get one 4lb northern. The next day we moved back in the bay further and moved shallower seen a few walleyes on the camera but they weren’t taking any of the rattle baits spoons or plain hook setups however. Had a few tip up hits but no hookups. First couple inches of ice was a little honeycombed but everywhere we drilled there ...

Well bring lots of minnows the 10-14” walleyes are going like piranha on jigs lindys spinners almost as fast as you can get it in the water. Did find a couple nicer ones 15-18” on live bait and some nice crappies too. Fish were in 6-20 feet. Cranks also produced fish for us, better quality too, we pulled in about 11-15 feet clown was the best color.

  4. tobacco gardens area

last weekend we trailered up to tobacco gardens, man that entire area both sides of the lake looked like spring break on the shoreline. The fishing was decent the south side the water was dirty and not near as much action. on the north side we fished 3 miles on either side of lunds landing, way more people east than west, we had our best luck pulling cranks in 9-11 feet for walleye. biggest problem was keeping the white bass off the hooks. We did catch fish all the way out to 25 feet but the best walleye we found were shallower fish ranged from 13-22" for us.

  5. Sakakawea midsection

We got out Friday afternoon on the middle section of sakakawea for about 5 hours first two spots were a bust then we pulled out to a main lake point and got 6 quick ones using slow death with half crawls and smile blade and also minnow and lindy and smile blade in 8-12 feet, it was a pretty small spot and I think we pressured the fish out of there. We started working our way down the shore and got into a couple schools of fish. We caught 13 more keeping 9 and lost 3 at the boat in about an hour. The fish were sitting between the big rocks that are snag haven in 7-10 feet and wanted the baits ...

  6. Sakakawea River section

We made a run up to the river section north of skunk bay last week Friday and Saturday, to say the fishing is good is an understatement. Although you can go play bumper boats at the usual community holes there are walleye all along the river right now. We fished away from people both days and crushed fish in anywhere from 7-18 feet. fish bit on jigs and spinners, and lindys both crawlers and minnows a blade or prop seemed to make a huge difference in triggering bites.

Fished this past Saturday and Sunday on Sakakawea fished the midsection of the lake saturday pitching jigs with plastics up shallow got a few fish to go in the 16-21" range nothing to hot and heavy though. Fished mostly back in main lake small bays, the northern were going nuts back in a few of the bays we caught quite a few of them throughout the day. Decided on sunday to make the drive to newtown area and it was pretty much like everyone said a bunch of nice fish jigging or lindying biggest was 26" most of them came in 6-12ft. we couldn't get anything on crawlers all day minnows caught ...

  8. Tschida

Went out to Tschida the past weekend and the fish are just getting going up there we trolled cranks around for a couple hours Saturday night and had pretty steady action and ended up getting a few over 20s in 6-12 ft. Sunday we decided to use minnows and jigs and spinners the smaller males provided non stop action. Not as big of fish on live bait but the numbers were there.

Holy shit was it a bumper boat palooza we got to Indy around 620 and had 20 fish in 40 minutes then the swarm started coming must have been 300 boats from Indy to pouch to skunk we ran further up river and got a few more then ran back up in the arm and hit the flats on the east side fish were pretty much everywhere as were the boats we released close to 40 walleye on the day, didn't really matter what you threw at them cranks, Lindy, spinners, leeches, crawlers. If you don't mind true 60-80 boat bumper action this is your place, to crazy for me hopefully fish push south and east soon

  10. tschida again

Spent the last two days catching fish like crazy on the lake. Friday we drifted crawlers and spinners and pitched plastics since north shore wasnt open to get minjas. Did all right way west in 4-12 ft. Around 5 a shipment of minjas came through and it was nonstop action on the south shore fishing a drop from 14-30ft, pretty much all small males probably caught 30 fish with 8 of them in the 15-18 range. Saturday was much of the same went through a bunch of minnows and crawlers we kept 10 14-16 inchers with lots of 12-13s.

Got out Friday evening for 3 hours along the south shore from the boy scout camp to sled creek. I was pitching plastics to shore and dragging a lindy while the other guys had spinners on with minnows and pitched jigs and minnows.Kept the boat in 8-17 feet while pitching to the banks, the smallies were smashing the plastics right next to shore and also got a couple slimers and had a beaver on for about 20 seconds. We got a few wallys in 12 feet on lindys and spinners but they were all small 11 to 15 inches then right before dark they started smashing the plastics in about 5-10 feet but all small ...
