looking at water tanks to haul city water to devils for summer camping (camper stays set up there)... have a few questions...

anything to stay away from???

will the water stay "clean" (bug free) if the tank is left in the sun when not being used???

would like to get a pickup tank that fits between the wheel wells and under a black cover... will the heat grow stuff in the tank??? i know some paint them...

can always just buy some smaller portables, but it would be easier (less lifting) with a tank and hose...

thanks all...

If you leave it outside with nothing covering it, bacteria will form at the very least. I would at least tarp it at Devils. If you scour the internet you will find tanks of all sizes and shapes that you can put in your truck. Over the years I have bought several different sizes/shapes for the race trailer to fit specific layouts we put in there for racing. Have you looked into a local delivery service there? We used to haul our own water to the hook but found it was better to just pay a local guy to deliver it.

I bought a 65 gallon tank last year. I fill it when we head up to the lake trandfer it to the camper tank and it lasts the weekend. Family of 4, then I leave the tank empty all week until we head back up.
Works great, and is plenty of water, sometimes more then we go through

ya, i was worried about crap growing in there...

far as getting it delivered, we're off the beaten path at my uncles place... too many dogs and guns for a second delivery i'm sure...

Runnings, think it was 150, maybe 200 bucks. The transfer pump was 150 or so.
Works pretty slick

Just look for a wrecked camper and remove the tank. Use the pump from wrecked camper as a transfer pump. Should be able to do it all for under 100. If it's city water that your hauling I wouldn't worry about bacteria growing just add a 1/4 cup of bleach to every 100 gallons and it will keep everything fresh. Lots of info on it in about every campus ndg forum on the net.
