I'm considering getting Lasik done this winter while things are slow. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to go to for a surgeon? Bismarck, Jamestown, Fargo would all be fine locations.
How about going into Canada with the current exchange rates? I want a surgeon that is reputable, but don't necessarily want to spend a bunch more money that I have to.

Good Morning, mine was done with Dr. Strinden at Bagan-Strinden in Fargo. It was painless, and I havent had a single issue. I'd recommend them.

I went to Dr. Williams in Minot with good results. I've had friends go to TLC in Bismarck with good results. It was a very simple process and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I'd avoid Canada. On the very slight chance that something would go wrong, trying to deal with that in another country would be a serious pain in the butt.

TLC all the way. I went to the TLC in fargo and am kicking myself because I didn't do it 5 years sooner.... no issues what so ever.... whole thing from start to finish was about 1 hour, with about 5 minutes of that 1 hour actually being the procedure... the other 55 minutes was the getting drugged up process for it. after the procedure I went to the hotel and took a 3 hour nap, when I woke up, I could see nearly perfectly with just a bit of a haze. by the next morning I was back to 100%. I now have better than 20/10 vision. my eye dr. doesn't have the necessary equipment to test if i'm better than 20/10.... I'm thoroughly please with it and the price was right.... if you choose TLC let me know and i'll email you a coupon that gets you a few $ off the procedure

Oh and if you want, you can finance through TLC (they use wells fargo).... Interest free.... the plan is set up to be paid off in 3 years and for me it ended up running around $3300 total if I remember right. My monthly payment is like $140. that coupon that I can email you is good for $250 off of the procedure. If I remember right, the Dr. that does the procedures down there also goes to Bismarck and does them there as well and he has done like 20,000 of them or more.... they actually do like 20 of them before noon on the days they do the procedure. May will be 3 years since I had it done and my vision hasn't slipped off the perfect mark at all...

How long ago did you guys get yours? My brother had his done and was back to glasses in 4 years.

So his eyes weren't done changing? I had mine done 1.5 years ago. I have a lifetime adjustment as long as I schedule yearly eye exams with my eyeball doc. I had a bad halo effect from lights at night and my low light vision isn't as good as it was. Idk I that's just from age or from LASIK but I'm betting it's from the LASIK.

In the summer of 2015 I had my yearly eye exam and my eye doc said there is a new laser out there that is improving the surgery. I would look into who has the newest, best "frickin laser beam".

I had mine done in Bismarck around 2005 by a now retired doctor. Fair results is the best way to put it, better than 20/20 in my left eye, near 20/20 in my right. However, I am also now 49 and readers have become increasingly needed over the past couple years even though my distance vision remains excellent.

I had Lasik back in 2002, so it's been 13-1/2yrs. It was performed by Dr. Womack in Fargo, He was at Valley Laser Vision, but now it's called TLC. I'm unsure if he moved to a competitor, or if their name changed.

It's truly a weird freekin' procedure as they slice your eyeball and flop over the cornea. All light suddenly goes pitch black. When they flip your cornea back the light once again appears. Some slight burning while a fluid is added to help your healing process and bring the skin together to form scar tissue. When they say 'lay completely still', you best LAY COMPLETELY STILL!!

For some follow-up care here in Bismarck I had a few appointments with Dr. Baglien at Dakota Eye Institute. He said he'd never seen a better case where the scar tissue had mostly disappeared. He didn't even need to see me for the final appointment because my eyes had healed beyond their expectations.

Now that I'm in my 50's I do need reading glasses for the past six years, and was advised that might happen. But, I'm so happy that Dr. Womack switched me from near-sightedness to far-sighted. Reading glasses are a better option than wearing contacts/glasses 24hrs a day.

I had mine done by Dr. Womack at TLC in Fargo about five to seven years ago. Best decision ever. My eyes have stayed the same since the surgery, not sure if its 20-20 or not but I can see fine. I did have some annoyance with the halo effect when driving at night for the first year or two. When meeting oncoming traffic or bright street lights they would halo pretty good. It wasn't enough to cause problems but I did notice it but only at night. It has either gotten better or I'm just used to it now, hasn't bothered me in a long time anyway. .I would happily do it over the same way with the same doctor. I took some Ibuprofen and a good nap afterwards and felt pretty good. Back to normal the next day minus glasses or contacts.

I went with TLC this past spring wish I would of went with it sooner. I went with them because they have a free fix if something changes. Just have to see a eye doc every year. My vision is about 20/15. The halo went away for me about a month later when driving at night.

Same exact place and experience for me. Go to Dr. Womack, he is at Northern Lights now.

Anybody have it done recently, cost? Have been thinking about for a long time. Paid over $600 for two pairs of glasses from Walmart, Bismarck. Midwest Vision Center wanted $850 with 50% off sale. Prices are ridiculous!

TLC was running a special. $3990 before any insurance kickback. Worth every penny.
