So when do you think will be the first day we can take a boat to the river and start the season out?
My guess is March 15 2016.

You don't have to worry about the groundhog seeing his shadow, he came out and I shot him no problem there.

This is what I have for a river around town. Guys were ice fishing it less than a week ago I might head over there with the long rod this evening.

If these temps hold up 3wks. Might be playing titanic rolet with ice chunk, but a ramp or 2 could be clear.

Was on the river on Saturday. Didn't hurt the fish population, but everything worked on the boat and had the river to ourselves. I know you are referring to Bismarck, I will take the over on March 15. We still have some weather ahead of us.

Pretty sure I was fishing the river last March. The new spring forecast looks nice but this is North Dakota. Maybe it will be "nicer".

The ice line looks to be a couple miles north of double ditch and have to believe she is working south at a fair clip with highs in the fourtys and lows barely below freezing. The ice in Bismarck is fairly young and is rotting fast. If next week is warm she will likely bust open....hell I wouldn't rule out this weekend pushing the ice past its breaking point. The thing with the river is it has only two modes. She is either making ice or loosing ice and right now she's getting smoked from above and below. With ice fishing being so awsome right now;:;banghead I for one am ready for some long rod fishing!

Under the interstate, but just before memorial bridge is open. The boat ramp is obviously locked in but a person could easily long pole right now. My guess, March 1st at the latest, unless the groundhog is wrong.

Went up and looked and this is approximately where the ice line is as of today.

Yeah that shot was from sunday. Here is an easier one to see where its at. She very close and misty may not be all that far off from getting freed up.
