Question for you guys...I have a 3 bank charger as of now for my trolling motor batteries. I am thinking of adding a second one for my starting battery..which I think i am going to add a second one in parallel because everything is connected to that battery. The problem I am having is that when just trolling with the kicker there is not enough of a charge from the 9.9 and if you have the radio and all the other shit on it can kill my battery. Anyways have any of you tied both chargers together so you still have only 1 cord to plug in? Kind of thinking that wouldn't be a good idea for 2 3 bank chargers. I will be having a total of 6 batteries in this boat. Or maybe there is something titty sprinkled up with something?

I would just wing it and hope for the best. As long as both chargers are on not on the same batteries you should be fine but you dont want 2 chargers on one battery.

As long as you're not exceeding the amperage rating of your supply power circuit or the extension cord you're using, I don't know of a reason it would cause any problems.

I have the same problem. Tournament days when the livewells and all of the graphs are on all day I end up jumping the big motor from the electric battery or doing 7 mph with the kicker till it charges the big motor battery. I have a 4 bank charger now, so if two batteries in the back are ran parallel (12 volts) that shouldn't mess with my charger? Right?

36V electric motor, 1 starting battery, 1 accessory battery (or tie the two together in parallel), I get all that, but where's the 6th battery and what's it for?

FYI: Automatic charging relays allow your outboard to charge your trollers when it's running but otherwise keeps the batteries isolated. Might prove handy for some folks.

google "combiner 100" to see example

Charging one battery that is in parallel with another is fine. You can expect longer charging times, but in the long run it will most likely be easier on the batteries. If the charger would normally take 2.5 hours to charge up from half drained, I would suspect it would take more like 6 hours for two in parallel. If this is not a problem for you, then you will be fine.

the 6th battery is for my down riggers. was planning on re-wiring my radio to that battery also to take some draw off the starting battery.

forgot to mention that the 6th battery is in the center of the boat with the 3 for the trolling motor. I hate how they wire these boats...looks like a child did it. but that could be coming from me being an electrician by trade!

I would think that 6 10amp chargers would overload most circuts even running a shorter 10 gauge extension cord.

I have one of them battery tenders on my starting battery. I plug it in if I have had a full day of running stuff, with little use of the big motor. It is a trickle charge at very low amps, I use this in conjunction with my 3 bank charger for the trolling batteries on one extension cord. No problems yet, and the little light is always green when I unplug in the morning, meaning its charged and no longer putting any juice to it.

10 amp charger at 12 volts is 120 watts times 6 chargers is only 720 watts, not even half of the capacity of a 15 amp 120 volt breaker.
