I have been pulling cranks lately and use quite a few different brands. I like the flicker shads but it seems their hooks are very cheap. Northern really tear them up and even walleye bend them up pretty good. Is anybody else having this problem? What hooks do you replace them with? Or do you just run them till they break all the hooks off. I now have several baits with only 2 hooks per treble

Mustad triple grip is what I use. Buy them at dakota tackle for my Reef Runners, Shad raps and Flicker shads.

Yes, the hooks are bad, but it usually takes a northern to wreck them. I use them till they break, then put red treble hooks on. Eagle hooks from WalMart.

It annoys me when they put cheap hooks on an expensive lure. For what they charge, they should have the best hooks on the market on those things.

Flickers are not expensive. I can understand why they run cheaper hooks, keeps manufacturing cost down and that keeps retail cost lower than other big name baits. I really like the way they run.

I don't fish a lot with crank baits but I think wire hooks work ok in areas with a lot of snags , I would rather have to straighten the hooks than lose the crank bait.

I guess they are pretty cheap. I was thinking they would be comparable to the shad raps in price. I guess these are not too bad. I agree that it is better to straighten a hook then lose the whole crank, but don't want to lose a nice fish because of a cheap hook either. Where do you draw the line? Myself I like a more solid hook - but then I do whine a lot when I lose a crank.

I haven't lost fish yet. But one hooks are out they are ugly. I'll end up replacing the hooks with better ones once I really screw them up
