Would y'all just tightened or torqued and back reeled. I think I would've ended up back reeling with that tackle. Fumbling with the drag during a fight is BAD BAD BAD. In that instance, it was necessary.

They were way too excited, you never get way too excited before the fish is caught. Gotta keep your crap together, and you definitely don't want to talk about the fish as if you've already landed it, his buddies jinxed him. All of this being said, I would have probably lost it too.

Ughhh reeling against the drag drives me nuts, ha ha. I can usually adjust my drag when fighting a fish, prefer that to back reeling.

I have never done it ice fishing but when fighting big pike I kinda like to back reel, I just have a hard time trusting the drag and that extra tug it takes to pull line out no matter how small of a extra pull it takes. Que innuendo comments ;:;popcorn

That would make most grown men cry. Imagine the line twist in that last couple feet of line.

Experience + good quality gear would = a big fish hanging on the wall. I have lost enough big fish to make me extremely anal about gear and technique.

Open the bail. Torque the drag down. Bad Bad Bad. This is not an option with a baitcaster: Use your thumb as you should as there's also a star for your pleasure. Be careful when you're fighting with it:

"This trip is gonna cost me another $800 bucks, cause I'm gonna mount this f'er". Fish was gone with that quote.

Seems to me the fish knew it had him by the short hairs. The only quote missing from that video would be "here, hold my beer".
