Ha ha come on guys not a single antelope post? I know it stinks not having a season but we can still think about the good old times and out of state hunts to come right! For me antelope backstrap is right up there with sheep "ND sheep back strap is to die for. "And I'm not kidding one bit"
I've always said antelope backstrap must be tenderized by the hands of God. ;:;bowdown

I got lucky before they shut down the season and decoyed in the biggest buck of my life from his 32 doe harem. I was by myself so it was pretty wild. As they came out from behind a nob I popped up the decoy from the tall grass I was kneeling in. He came charging at me like a dust missile, I was like 80,60 40 25..yikes! Dropped the decoy, drew and shot him still charging in all in one motion! He ran back through the herd full bore as if screaming "its a trap!" and then did a wild high speed ass over tea kettle wipeout. When I walked up to him I couldn't believe how tall heavy and wide he was, and I've lived in WY for a couple years. Owe it all to my brother for calling me who saw him while he was out haying. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

So lets see some of those fun antelope hunt photos!

Here's the buck I spoke of, he was right at 17" tall and almost 16" spread tip to tip.

I got lucky and was one of the few who drew a tag last year. I think it was like six thousand something applicants for 250 tags. I had four points.

Took my son with me on bow opener and we had a few good stalks and a nice camping trip but didn't fire an arrow. Took him to the playground in Bowman the last day at noon and I grilled up some chicken legs while he played. It was a wonderful weekend. Went back down three weekends later with the help of a buddy and shot my goat at 52 yards by 10am the first morning. He went a whopping 40 yards and didn't last but 30 seconds, it happened so fast. It was my first antelope in 18 seasons and first with the bow. I was super pumped. I had a great time finishing out the weekend hunting muleys with my bud but wish my son could have been with when I arrowed the buck. It was the same buck that him and I had a great stalk on too so that was pretty cool.

This is my first goat and only one thus far. Taken in WY 2 years ago. Can't wait to get back there in a couple years and chase after them with a bow. Hopefully I get the opportunity to take one in ND in a year or two.

I tried spot-n-stock archery for goats one year. I hate those &@%# things. Didn't have the same luck as You.

Hey Vollmer, can you change this forum category from "Antelope" to "Pronghorn" so my head doesn't explode? Thanks.

I'll be hunting antelopes (that's for Slim, both the antelope, and the pleural) this year in SD. Numbers are starting to really come back. Seeing them in the traditional range again, just less numbers.

Best wild game there is! Hope to get to SD this year, not sure if it's gonna work out. Only tagged one myself, didn't start chasing them until just a few years ago. Boy was I missing out, great fun and great eating!
