What brand, length and action of rods does everyone like? I've been using the same rod for both and am looking to get one or two for each method. Also what type of reel do you like and why? I've thought about baitcaster reels but fear I might have a nasty mess.

Minimum 6ft preferably 7 with a medium light action. Not to light, not to stiff, just right to feel the bump. Fenwicks and Scheels rods only.

I'm cheap. I run 7 foot lightning rods. Med weight, fast action. If I get to upgrade this year I'll go Fenwick.
My casting rod gets to jig once in awhile and does well too. Abu Garcia vengeance rod

5.5-6' light for jigs, I've got a ~10yr old 5'4" Scheels rod that was their top @ the time, a 6' light St. Croix Avid and a 6' light Loomis IMX. I like the St. Croix the best.

For bouncers I like 7' Med-Hvy spinning rods or 7' Medium casting rods. I've got multiples of both the spinning and casting from Scheels, St. Croix, Fendwick, and Loomis, and again, St Croix Avid is my favorite. The handle feel, weight, and how the tip loads give me the feel I like.

IMO, if going Fenwick, drop 1/2 step in action. If you're thinkning you want a Med-Hvy, in a Fenwick I'd look @ Med, for Med-light application, in Fenwick I'd look for a light, etc.

For vertical jigging I have a 6'6 ML Scheels rod I really like. For pitching jigs I like a 7 ft ML, scheels again. I started using a bait caster for bouncers last year and I am really happy with it. The rod I have for BB is the older series Jason Mitchell rod.

For trolling I have a scheels medium medium walleye series that I really like (short line cranks and bottom bouncers) have a 7'6 and a abu garcia 6' medium medium

trolling cranks deep I use the scheels trolling series with line counters and lead core (have a 4' 2x ' and a 12')

for pitching jigs and cranks I have a scheels med light that I like 6' and an abu garcia that is a 5' light extra fast

I prefer scheels rods cuz they replace them when they break all the time.

Thats a tough question. I use a 6' Loomis IMX SJR720 with a Stratic Ci4 for vertical jigging. I use a Loomis GLX 6'10" med extra fast with a Quantum Smoke for pitching jigs, but will be replacing it with an NRX. And i have about 3 different 6'6" med extra fast for pulling bouncers.

6'6" MXF for jigging, 7' MF for pulling spinners. Up to this year, I only had two rods so they both saw action in all fishing scenarios. I think I'll try to drop some BB off the back of the boat with my trolling rods while we each fish out of the sides. Scheels has their trolling rods on sale for $20 right now. Which is about $10 more than they're worth.

I used to be a short rod guy, but have really taken to a 6' 6" or 7' to be my preferred for all fishing.

It seems I have a better feel of the bottom, a better hook set, and look better with a longrod in my hands...like I usually do.

For BB rods, my favorites are medium action 7' 6" baitcasters with flip switches on the reels, highly recommend No.8 tackle's hellbent Inshore rods. For jigging, I have always been a fan of a 6'6" elite tech but recently bought a Fishing 13 Omen in medium extra fast with a wide spool reel. Must say that I really enjoy fishing with it.
