  1. Independence Area

Fished Tuesday through Thursday last week. Bite was still great. Crawler in 15 to 18 feet worked for us. Dead calm Thursday morning and still caught 20 nice fish in 2 hours. Our largest was 25 inch release. We had 12 between 18 and 21 inches Thursday. Smallest we kept was 16 1/2. Healthy fish loaded with smelt. Friend fished Saturday and had same success. He said there were 30 boats on Independence Island all catching fish. Going up tomorrow again.

  2. Pouch Bay Independence Point Area

Fished Wednesday and Thursday this week. Fishing was very good. Wednesday fished south shore near Independence. 18 to 22 feet was best although caught some in 10 feet. Kept 9 over 18 inches. Today it was windy from northeast. So we fished north shore near Pouch. Kept 7 over 18 inches and released a 24 inch walleye. 10 feet was best today. Presentation both days was half crawler and slow death hooks.

  3. Independence Point Pouch Bay Area

Fishing was good Tuesday and Wednesday. 10 feet to 30 feet found walleyes. Wednesday we caught 9 from 19 to 21 inches in 3 hours. After we caught our limit we moved into 10 feet near Pouch. Caught 10 more nice fish that we released. Good two days. Presentation was single bead, single hook with a half a worm. Slow speed less than 1 mph. Color did not matter but a snell from 18 to 20 inches caught most of the fish. Longer snells did not catch as many. From .5 mph to .8 mph worked best. They were biting everywhere.

  6. Indian hills

Fished last week Thursday and Saturday. Thursday stayed close around Red Butte. Did not do well only two nice walleye. Camping neighbor hammered them in same area pulling cranks in 30 foot. I was using slow death. Changed Sunday, went south of Independence Point. Was like a fire drill all afternoon. Slow death was working. Most came in 25 to 28 feet, caught one in 13 the rest 19 to 35. Released a bunch, size ranged 16 to 19. Friend finished the day with a nice fat 26 inch fish at 7 pounds that was released. Fun day?
Thanks to Kelly Sorge with great advice and camping spot!

Larger fish were in 30 feet caught fish from 18 to 35 feet. Crawlers and spinners worked best. Only caught Northerns on leeches. Slow death caught a few walleyes too.
Going back this weekend. Hope the weather does not change things. Nice to have the rain though.

  8. Oahe Beaver Creek Saturday

Fished it last Saturday. Caught one nice Crappie, 4 keeper Walleye, largest 18 inches. Also caught 9 small walleyes between 14 and 11 1/2 inches. Also lost a StCroix Eyecon with Abu Garcia C3 on east end. Did not have it latched in rod holder. Hope whomever finds it likes it as much as I did.

  9. Audubon

Fished Audubon Saturday for walleyes. Tried slow lindy rigs with minnows, worms and gulp leeches. Was like the dead sea. Could not get any bites. Towards the end, switched to cranks. My wife caught a fat 35 inch northern near the boat dock. Highlight of the day, sure was nice to get out though. My Mercury 15 four stroke was leaking gas from carburetor. To the shop it goes. Water temp started at 50 and rose to 55 on the east end.
