Decided to try something different so a buddy and I chased smallmouth bass on Lake Audubon today May 2. Lake temp was 48 so we looked for bays that had warmed up (49-52). We fished rocky windblown shores, points and islands by Pitching jigs to shallows with plastics or shad raps in crayfish colors. We caught 7 with the smallest at 17”, all the others were 18-18.75”. Most of them hit the bait in 2-4’ of water. It was a blast…they fight like bulldogs! And only one other boat trailer at the ramp 😎

I’ve always said if walleye didn’t taste good no one would fish for them.
And if not for bass fishing innovation on lures all the walleye guys would still be using bobbers, boring (bottom) bouncers, and vertical jigging ...popcorn...
