Why would you need to cut your shells? Couldnt you just purchase shells for what ever your hunting, such as slugs or #2 etc? Just curious if its really needed?

It's a poor man's hack deal. Dad said they'd shoot through a F/FC and work for 25yds. I wouldn't use any constriction for the cuts and whatever I thought necessary for the intended bird bbl. This is one argument for dbl triggers I can sort of win!!

Back in Dad's day they were all single bbls in the Hills: Iver Johnson, Savage, JC Higgins etc. Dad carried one of the nicer ones--a M37 Winchester. These guns were not made in fucking China or Japan. Before his 37 he somehow acquired a Fox SXS which blew up, shooting at a squirrel. He thought he plugged it with snow and later believed it was smokeless powder and Damascus steel. I wish the hell he'd saved the wood and the action. Anyways:
