If I used stinger hooks in the Sheyenne, I might as well just stop at the first bridge, toss my entire jig supply in the river, and head to the bar. It'd save lots of time tying, cussing, stress, frustration, anger, probably blood, and I'd end up at the bar anyway. However, in on smooth sand bottoms, vertical jigging cold water, or fishing suspended fish, they work well. When I have used them, I prefer the stinger be on a separate ring as the clip on ones tend to push the bait off the main hook IME.
