Although I do not know this for sure as I left the weigh in before the last few boats were weighed in but I think Duetz and his fishing partner whose name escapes me at the moment were ahead with 44lbs of fish for the 2 days..i will stand corrected if this info is incorrect.

I fished this and it was brutal! Saturday was hot and flat glass - crazy bugs. Sunday was blowing like nuts and we were able to scratch out a top 20...However, what is with tournament guys this year??? Not all but I've fished 3 so far this year and have never been cut off and totally disprespected by other fisherman this year more than all the last tournaments combined. The team that finished 4th cut me off my line I was working at least 8 times on Sunday in 4 footers and the last time he did it I could have netted fish for him. He cut right in front of me and then continued right down the line he knew I was already fishing. I let his dumb ass have it as best I could but seriously...is there no shame in treating others on the water with no respect anymore? I get it if its a small body of water but this was up on Pelican and the line I was working is at least 3 miles long so plenty of room for this guy to fish a different part. He almost got a 3oz snap weight bounced off his sparkly new boat...

Me thinks the guaranteed $10,000 first place prize with all other prize amount dependent on total number of entries played a hand in some of the asshat- ery you speak of. That ride back to the Casino from Pelican in that wind must have been interesting! Wasn't Saturday morning almost a fog out? I woke up and looked outside and thought..holy crap..might make the take offs into that soup on the lake interesting.

I thought a 17 mile run in near Gail force winds was rough but that Saturday morning take off had me white-knuckled. Worst part was going through zieback pass not knowing who might be coming out of there... then you'd come across someone's wake and know they were close but couldn't see chit. Once up on pelican it really got interesting when boats were leaving their go to spots and now everyone is headed in different directions...wasn't fun at all

this is why i don't fish tournaments... displaying total dickheadery makes you a dick head... f'ing someone for money makes you a whore - fishing or not...

Yea Ahab if you know this tool or his dumbass partner let em know what goes around comes around...He better have a pretty good spot to be secluded next year or he's getting cut off...The thing that got me the most was when he yelled back that I wasn't there yesterday so I had no right to that spot. We were the last flight Saturday so naturally 6 other boats were already there by the time we got up there. We were however the first boat there Sunday but I guess that didn't matter because I "Wasn't in that Spot" the first day. What a dumbass...

it's pretty clear that tournaments should adopt V's reputation system

- - - Updated - - -

seriously though - a guy gets so many complaints filed and he gets warned - so many more additional and boom - a$$hat can hit the road

why let crap like that thin the ranks and ruin the fun for decent folks?

I cant tell you how may times on the Missouri river I have had run in's and problems with tournament fishermen both during the tournament and when they are pre-fishing. Some of the encounters have almost led a fight, because some of the boats have been close enough for me to walk into theirs. At least when the pro circuit fished the river in the past they acted and represented themselves with respect both pre fishing and on tourney day. I can tell you over the years that my experiences with tournament fisherman has soured me on tournaments. I used to fish tournaments years ago and would have never acted the way some of these idiots act. I really believe some of this is due to the entitlement generation and another part being greed. Now I just try to avoid areas where tournaments are being held which as I look at it is as sad result of my past experiences. dukgnfsn

I had a great encounter with a tournament boat on Saturday (White Lund but don't remember their number) but we were fishing the same shoreline and they pulled in a nice fish. I was out there just having fun catching walleyes so I moved back further from shore and let them have the inside. We had a quick chat and I asked them how fishing was and they were honest about it. Told them good luck and we all moved on.

Tournaments don't ruin everyone so let's not bash all tournaments and everyone that fishes them because of a few bad boats.

(Disclaimer: I'm not a tournament fisherman and unless it is a benefit for fireman, EMTs, Veterans, etc. I don't fish them)

In the Mobridge tournament last weekend guys were running pretty close too and on the INSIDE coming out of the launch. There's a flat right south of town that a lot of people were fishing. Tournament boats that were launching came cruising across it right by boats fishing, and like I said on the INSIDE! My brother had his little 12ft aluminum boat out there and was getting sandwhiched by wakes. He was not happy. Also returning to check in, boats were flying across the flat, close enough to cast a bb in their boat. There's a LOT of room out in the middle of the lake

I fished it. Lost our best fish each day.

I didn't have any issues with other boats; maybe that's why I didn't cash a check.... the run on Saturday was interesting. We were boat 2 and I quickly made us boat 1 so I didn't have to worry about other tourney boats ahead of us. Slowed around and swung wide around grahams. Sunday was just fun getting kidney stones loosened up.

As for the "tourney guys are aholes" thought. I have seen just as many stupid arrogant decisions in non-sparkly boats. Maybe the sparkles and tourney tag make it more obvious?

AaronJ - I'd retract my "Sparkly boat" statement if I could as mine is sparkly too... just not as big and not nearly as new. I just couldn't believe how arrogant this guy was and had no respect for anyone else out fishing. 95 % of the guys in these tournaments are great guys with respect for everyone out on the water... I won't let a few bad apples take away from the thrill I get from fishing these. It's just happened to me more times this year than ever before by guys who i'd think wouldn't do that.

plus now i see a pic on DL of two trucks blocking a bridge so nobody could go through ---- trying to keep them from fishing. Locals Rule!!!! WTF -- pure desperation. I will say we did have two yelling at each other at a bass tourney i used to run ---same situation both trying to fish a set of reeds ---- I disqualified both and i waited till they came back to weigh in.

"I have seen just as many stupid arrogant decisions in non-sparkly boats"

Preposterous statement of the year nominee there.
